Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 03, 2026
1. Overview
JavaFormatter ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our Java code formatter at JavaFormatter.com.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
The Java code you submit for formatting is processed transiently on our server for the sole purpose of reformatting it. We do not store, log, or retain your source code after the formatting response is returned. We do not have access to, review, or analyze the code you submit.
3. Information We May Collect
Server logs: Our web server (Nginx) records standard access logs including IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent, and referrer. These logs are retained for a limited period for operational purposes (troubleshooting, abuse prevention) and are not used for user profiling.
Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure aggregate traffic (page views, referrers, country-level geography). We also use Microsoft Clarity for session recording and heatmaps. Clarity does not capture code you submit to the formatter. We do not track individual users.
4. Cookies
We use a functional cookie consent flag (localStorage). GA4 and Clarity may set first-party cookies for measurement purposes. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site user profiling.
5. Third-Party Services
We use jsDelivr CDN for CSS and JavaScript libraries (Bootstrap, Alpine.js, CodeMirror), Google Analytics 4 for traffic measurement, and Microsoft Clarity for user behavior analysis. These services have their own privacy policies.
6. Data Retention
Server access logs are retained for up to 30 days. Submitted Java code is not retained beyond the duration of a single formatting request. GA4 and Clarity data retention is governed by their respective platform policies.
7. Your Rights
Since we do not persistently store your source code or personal data, most data subject requests (access, rectification, erasure) do not apply. If you have questions, please contact us. Residents of the EEA, UK, California, and other jurisdictions with data protection laws retain all rights granted by those laws.
8. Childrens Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
9. Payment Information
JavaFormatter is currently a free service and does not process payments. If we introduce paid features in the future, this policy will be updated.
10. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here. Material changes will be noted on the homepage.
